MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. authorized on Wednesday the release of P265 million from his Presidential Social Fund to aid Mindanao provinces affected by recent floodings and landslides caused by massive rains.

Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian made the announcement during the briefing led by Marcos in Panacan, Davao City with local and national government officials on the situation in Davao region.

“From the reports that we have had, I think that we are doing all right in the food. But as the Secretary was explaining, it gets to the point na hindi lang pagkain ang kailangan ng tao. They need to buy other things para sa kanilang household. That's why the ECTs have become very important... Maramdaman nila kaagad na meron silang gagamitin sa pangangailangan nila,” the President said.

Marcos also directed government agencies to complete the damage assessment of public infrastructures and fast track the repair of damaged roads and bridges to ensure that aid will reach all affected residents.
