Sabi ni Mayor Maliwanag, tuyong-tuyo na ang kanilang sakahan at mga ilog kaya hindi na makapagtanim.<div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/3/6/el-nino-weakens-but-will-keep-temperatures-high-un-weather-agency-1057">El Nino weakens but will keep temperatures high, UN weather agency says</a></div>Una nang isinailalim sa state of calamity ang katabing bayan ng Bulalacao.Sinabi ni Bulalacao agriculture pfficer Rommel De Guzman na nagsimula na ang Department of Agriculture na mamahagi ng P5,000 na financial assistance sa mga magsasaka.Nasa state of calamity na rin ang tatlong bayan sa Occidental Mindoro, kabilang ang Magsaysay, San Jose at Looc.Ayon kay Engr. Alrizza Zubiri, provincial agriculture officer, umaabot na sa P196 milyon ang halaga ng pinsala ng El Niño sa buong probinsya ng Occidental Mindoro habang nasa P30 miyon naman ang pinsala ng pesteng harabas or army worm.Dahil tatlong bayan na ang nasa state of calamity, sinabi ni Zubiri na maaaring ideklara ang state of calamity sa buong probinsya ng Occidental Mindoro.
