MANILA -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) released on Wednesday (June 19) night several videos showing the "brazen act of aggression" by the China Coast Guard (CCG) towards Philippine vessels delivering supplies to its military outpost in Ayungin shoal last Monday, June 17.

The AFP's videos showed how the CCG "obstructed the AFP's critical humanitarian rotation and resupply operations at BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal on June 17, employing physical attacks, bladed weapons, blaring sirens, and blinding strobe lights."

In the first of five videos released by the AFP, CCG personnel were shown to attach ropes on the AFP's inflatable boat while also "threatening to injure an AFP soldier with a pickaxe."

Meanwhile, a body cam footage showed the CCG ramming the inflatable boat of the Filipino soldiers, and "brandishing bladed and pointed weapons" on the AFP personnel.

"Amidst this violent confrontation, the CCG also deployed tear gas, intensifying the chaos and confusion, while continuously blaring sirens to further disrupt communication," AFP said in a statement.

Afterwards, the AFP said the CCG "swarmed" the Filipino soldiers' moored boats alongside BRP Sierra Madre while allegedly still wielding pointed weapons and "explicitly threatening to harm Filipino troops."

The AFP added that CCG personnel began hurling rocks and other objects at Filipino soldiers and "slashed" the AFP's boats which made them inoperable.

"The CCG continued its relentless harassment of AFP troops through a series of aggressive actions... A Chinese military aircraft also circled overhead, in a further display of excessive force and intimidation," the AFP said.

In another video, the AFP said its Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat was "forcibly surrounded, dragged, and eventually towed away from BRP Sierra Madre with the intention to isolate it from the rest of the Filipino troops."

"In an act of piracy, CCG personnel proceeded to loot supplies, pilfer equipment, and ultimately destroy the [Filipino boat], rendering it immobile," the AFP said.

An officer of the Philippine Navy was injured in the incident, losing his thumb.

The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry has earlier said that its coast guard "did not take direct measures" against Filipino troops in the West Philippine Sea.

Speaking on Wednesday, China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said that the China Coast Guard "was professional and restrained and aimed at stopping the illegal 'resupply mission'."
