MANILA -- Residents of Bgy. Tanza Uno Kaliwa in Navotas City are appealing for help and assistance from the local government after their community was flooded again.The floods came as the high tide aggravated water levels, after a navigation gate of Metropolitan Manila and Development Authority (MMDA) malfunctioned. Ditas Diesta, one of the affected residents who used to sell meals in front of their house, cannot earn a living for the past few days as floods almost submerged her store. &quot;Eh ito, minsan yung mga kapitahay namin binibigyan kami ng pagkain katulad ngayon hindi kami makapaghanapbuhay…nagtitinda-tinda lang. Kanina tinanong ako kung may pagkain kami, sabi ko wala, binigyan naman ako ng pambili,&quot; Diesta said. &quot;Mahirap tapos..ako nagma-manicure ko ako eh sino ho magpapalinis ng kuko pagka ganyan, siyempre wala akong malilinisan ng kuko babad yung paa,&quot; Arlene Galicia, resident of Navotas told ABS-CBN News. According to Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco, the local government is ready to reach out to affected residents and promised to give the necessary assistance. &quot;Kausap po natin sila at kahit papano bibigyan natin ng mga assitance siguro, mga relief para hindi naman masyadong apektado pero ang pinaka-importante dito eh ‘wag na sana sa susunod na high tide ay hindi sila masyadong maapektuhan,&quot; Tiango said. Tiangco said the LGU will open 5 additional pumping stations on Thursday in the city. &quot;Tuloy-tuloy ang mga ginagawa natin in fact tomorrow meron tayong blessing ng karagdagang 5 pumping stations. Magiging total na pumping stations natin dito ay 81 na po within Navotas,&quot; Tiangco said. Meanwhile, the MMDA does not yet have an exact as to when the damaged navigation gate will be fixed and the estimated project cost from the DPWH.
