Members of transport group, Piston, on their way to Mendiola are blocked on Recto Avenue by police on Friday in Manila. The group, which timed their protest in celebration of their 43rd anniversary, is protesting the jeepney modernization program and its plan to convert all existing traditional jeepneys to modern jeepneys. 

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board earlier said all unconsolidated jeepney drivers and operators, those who fail to join cooperatives for the modernization program, will have their franchised revoked and considered colorum after the April 30, 2024 deadline.
