<div><span dir="ltr" id="isPasted"></span></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1722168388018viber_image_2024-07-28_19-18-32-742.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="Photo courtesy of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines"/><span class="fr-inner"><em style="text-align:left">Photo courtesy of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA – The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) led the commemoration of the 61st death anniversary of 24 Filipino boy scouts who died in an ill-fated flight on their way to represent the country in the 11th World Jamboree in Marathon, Greece in 1963. </p><p>At the Ala-Ala Mausoleum, Manila North Cemetery BSP Director IV (Secretary General) Kim Robert De Leon spearheaded the wreath-laying ceremony in observance of the “Scout Memorial Day.” </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/life/12/10/21/boy-scout-sa-bicol-wagi-ng-world-messengers-of-peace-hero-award" id="isPasted">Boy Scout sa Bicol, wagi ng World Messengers of Peace Hero Award </a> </div><p>Around 300 boy scouts from the National Capital Region participated in the holy mass. They also offered flowers and paid tribute to the scout heroes. </p><p>Also present at the event were members and families of the 11th World Jamboree Foundation. </p><p>Under the Presidential Proclamation No. 293, s. 1998, July 28 of every year serves as a Memorial Day to honor the 24 Scouts and other Scout heroes who bravely sacrificed their lives while fulfilling their duties. </p><div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/news/08/08/23/delegasyon-ng-ph-sa-25th-world-scout-jamboree-inilikas" id="isPasted">Delegasyon ng PH sa 25th World Scout Jamboree inilikas </a> </div><p>To honor the fallen scouts, there are streets in barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City named after them.</p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div>
