South Korean football player Park Yi-young recently shared a gripping story on social media about his encounter with a group of alleged pickpockets in Bonifacio Global City.

While walking near One Bonifacio, Park noticed six women surrounding him.

Three blocked his path, slowing his pace, while the others stayed close behind. Suddenly, the group dispersed, leaving Park suspicious.

He quickly checked his bag and found his wallet missing, its zipper open. Spotting the women still within sight, he decided to follow them. They split into three groups, forcing him to choose one to pursue.

Upon catching up, he confronted them, but they feigned innocence, causing a scene and loudly denying any wrongdoing.

Park sought assistance from a nearby guard, but to no avail. Undeterred, he continued his pursuit.

Eventually, in a less crowded area, one woman instructed another to return the wallet.

Relieved, Park checked his wallet, finding his IDs and cards intact, but didn’t verify the cash. He began recording videos as evidence.

Despite recovering his wallet, he later discovered some cash was missing. Reflecting on the incident, Park expressed gratitude for his safety and urged everyone to stay vigilant to avoid similar experiences.

According to Taguig Police officer-in-charge Police Colonel Christopher Olazo, Park didn’t file a formal complaint with the police and instead had the incident recorded in the BGC security blotter.

Olazo said the syndicate members are not residents of Taguig and usually move from place to place.

While he said it is an isolated case, there were previous reports of pickpocketing in BGC, but the complainants don’t follow through with a complaint.

He added that 100 police personnel are stationed in the area throughout the day.
