MANILA — Twenty-two party-list groups, including those with pending motions for reconsideration, are still being evaluated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), chairman George Garcia said Friday.

Garcia said they cannot make any comments yet on the status of the party-list applicants because their documents are still being thoroughly reviewed.

Last week, Garcia also disclosed that only 34 out of almost 200 party-list applicants were able to pass Comelec's scrutiny.

“Mukha namang aabutin lang tayo ng hanggang 164 so far na accredited, either yung bago o yung mga dati pa... And we’re hoping na makapagpa-raffle tayo ng numero mga ikatlong linggo ng September, dahil gusto rin natin na by October 1 to 8, magpa-file na sila, base sa nilabas na nilang list of nominees,” Garcia said.

“Hindi po kami papayag na kung sakaling mauubos yung listahan o kaya ay biglang mag-resign ay maglalagay sila ng panibagong kapalit, o bagong listahan. That list is a final list. Unless namatay, o na-disqualify yung nominee, saka lang kami papayag ng palitan,” Garcia said.
