MANILA -- Cebu Pacific on Tuesday said it is considering the "integration of the AirSWIFT brand into its operations" after its purchase of the boutique airline.

The low-cost carrier made the statement after a business news website reported that Cebu Pacific is considering retiring the AirSWIFT brand after assuming operations.

"The company acknowledges that it has explored the potential integration of the AirSWIFT brand into its operations," Cebu Pacific told the Philippine Stock Exchange.

"However, the company wishes to clarify that this is not an initiative currently planned for the near future," it stressed.

The firm said integration remains a possibility, but there is no definite timeline for it at this stage.

Cebu Pacific announced in October that it would buy the boutique airline operated by the Ayala group.

AirSWIFT is known for its fleet of planes that serve passengers in Boracay, El Nido, Cebu, Bohol, and other local tourist destinations. Cebu Pacific said the acquisition will widen their network and improve connectivity for both local and foreign travelers.

Cebu Pacific has signed a landmark aircraft purchase agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney to buy up to 152 aircraft valued at $24 billion or P1.4 trillion.

Cebu Pacific's net income doubled in the first quarter of the year amid strong travel demand.
