Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File </div>MANILA — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Tuesday it was reviewing the petition of various transport groups for a P15 minimum fare for public utility jeepneys.The agency said it understood “the challenges faced by our drivers and operators due to rising fuel prices and the increasing cost of living.”But the LTFRB said it “must also carefully balance this with the welfare of commuters who are equally affected by the current economic conditions.”“The LTFRB is reviewing the petition thoroughly and will consider all relevant factors, including fuel price trends, inflation rates, and the overall economic impact on the riding public,” the agency said.“We assure all stakeholders that the board will conduct public hearings and consultations to ensure transparency and inclusivity in the decision-making process,” it added.Fuel prices on Tuesday <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/1/20/oil-prices-up-for-3rd-straight-week-0858">went up for a third straight week. </a>Energy Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the main reason for the increase was the new US sanctions against Russia.She said it appeared that the total affected crude shipment amounted to 1.6 million barrels per day, which was likely to create a tightness in world supply.The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries earlier said it would only resume additional supply production by April 2025.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/03/05/21/opec-maintains-caution-on-output-despite-market-recovery">OPEC+ maintains caution on output despite market recovery</a> </div>
