Sunlight Air unveils new aircraft; to fly to Siquior

MANILA -- Boutique airline Sunlight Air has unveiled its newest aircraft as it announced its new destination: Siquijor. It is also the only airline to fly to the island province.Sunlight Air Chief Executive Officer Ryna Brito-Garcia poured champagne on the new aircraft as part of the launch of the airline’s fourth plane at the Clark International Airport. The new turboprop plane, the ATR 72-600, is more modern than the current fleet of the airline and is known for its efficiency and sustainability.It has a capacity for 72 seats, but Brito-Garcia said they only placed 68 seats to give more comfort to passengers. The new aircraft will be used on various routes, including Clark-Siargao, Siargao-Cebu, Cebu-Busuanga, and Busuanga-Clark.Sunlight Air will also begin flying to Siquijor four times a week starting December 15. It will be the only airline to have flights to Siquijor.“Cebu-Siquijor, we’re finally doing that once and for all,” said Brito-Garcia.Sunlight Air now has four turboprop planes, and it will upgrade the three older aircraft next year. But the airline is also considering using jet aircraft in the future— possibly by 2027.
