<p>MANILA -- Nine out of ten Filipinos said they will vote for candidates who will fight for more jobs and ensure food security for the nation, the latest survey from the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said.</p><p>In a survey commissioned by Stratbase and conducted from April 11 to 14, 93 percent of 1,800 Pinoy respondents said they will support candidates who will advocate for &quot;increasing job opportunities&quot; and “development of agriculture and ensuring food security.&quot;</p><p>Other top concerns of Filipinos include strengthening the healthcare system (91%) workers’ rights and OFW welfare (88%), and reducing the poverty and hunger of Filipinos (87%).</p><p>Also topping the list are controlling the prices of basic services and goods (85%), equal access to education (85%), addressing the impacts of climate change and enhancing disaster preparedness (83%). </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174608415393220250501070556_sws501.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174608416609220250501070556_sws 02.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>Stratbase President Dindo Manhit noted that it is not surprising for Filipinos to prioritize jobs and food security given the high inflation rate in the country.</p><p>&quot;Amid rising costs, even those with employment often find their incomes insufficient to provide for their families. Filipinos are not asking for much--- only for the dignity of stable work and the ability to support their loved ones,” he said. </p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oJYod9hevek?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>Manhit said voters must scrutinize the platforms of candidates--and remain vigilant beyond election day.</p><p>Promises about job creation should not be empty words--- they must be backed by clear programs and a history of action,” he said. </p><p>He also asked elected officials not to bicker or make polarizing statements.</p><p>&quot;These only worsen political instability, which discourages businesses from investing in our economy--- ultimately costing Filipinos the jobs they desperately need,&quot; he stressed.</p>
