MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday said that e-gates will be increased in airports to address the long queues in the Philippines’ gateways, and improve services for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who are often required to go through multiple counters before boarding their flight.

In previous years, the Bureau of Immigration installed several e-gates to address the lack of Immigration officials in airports as the technology allows passengers to scan their own passports and record their return to the Philippines after traveling abroad.

“Dadamihan natin ‘yung e-gate. Mabilis na ‘yan,” the President said in his first podcast episode.

So, bigay natin sa kanila,” he said.

Marcos Jr. said he also wants faster lanes for OFWs.

“Ang kawawa naman sa airport, ‘yung OFW. ‘Yung mga dayuhan, ang bilis ng daan. Walang problema. Pero ‘yung OFW, kung ano-ano hinihingi. Kawawa naman. May QRF code, may ID, may clearance na kung ano-ano bago sila makalabas,” he said.

Stamp.’ Di ba? Dapat ganoon eh,” he said. “So dahan-dahan, mapupuntahan din natin ‘yun,” he said.

The e-Gov app was also launched to curb the need to go to several agencies to process documentary requirements, the President said.

“Kaya’t ‘yung internet malaking ano – malaking tulong ‘yan,” he said.

The effort is part of the administration’s push to improve services after Marcos Jr. said that the results of the 2025 midterm elections showed that the public is dissatisfied with the performance of the government.
