MANILA -- You can now register for a national ID and a GCash account at the same time.In a statement, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said it is partnering with GCash to allow Filipinos to apply for a national ID and open a GCash account in one sitting.National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa said their colocation strategy will help make financial services accessible to more Filipinos.Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista of the PhilSys Registry Office. for her part, said the services will allow more Filipinos to access formal financial services for saving, payments, and loans.“This collaboration signals a powerful beginning—one that can drive meaningful change across communities,&quot; Bautista said. &quot;I believe our work with GCash will not only achieve its immediate goals but also serve as a model for future partnerships with other Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-supervised financial institutions.&quot;&quot;By bringing services closer to the people, we take a concrete step toward a more inclusive, financially empowered nation,&quot; she added.PSA noted that the National ID, regardless of the format, is acceptable for use for GCash account opening and verification. The state statistics bureau said about 56 percent of all users who opened GCash accounts have utilized the National ID for verification.<div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ppKh5AYdW6Q?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>
