MANILA (UPDATE) — Meralco electricity rates are going down in June. The power distributor said power costs were going down by P0.11/kwh this month as electricity prices fell in the spot market.
This means electricity bills may go down by the following amounts:
Consumption Cost
200 kwh P22
300 kwh P32

400 kwh P43
500 kwh P54
In a statement, Meralco noted the generation charge fell by P0.1099/kWh to P7.3552/kWh, because of lower charges from power supply agreements, independent power producers, and the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM).
Charges from power supply agreements fell by P0.3699/kWh, from independent power producers by P0.1034/kWh, and from the WESM by P0.6342/kWh.
Meralco said these price drops more than offset the increase in transmission charges, which went up by P0.0214/kWh because of higher ancillary service charges from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) ancillary service procurement agreements and the reserve market.
Other charges, including taxes, registered a net decrease of P0.0191 per kWh.
