Provisional service between Recto and Cubao was implemented on Wednesday due to a power failure that affected Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2)’s normal operations.

According to Atty. Hernando Cabrera, administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), the incident began around 3:30 a.m. when Trainset 9 experienced a power supply problem while in transit for deployment.

LRT-2 failed to begin trips on time after a train stalled in the Katipunan area and had to be hauled. Partial operations started at 6 a.m. instead of the scheduled 5 a.m. opening.

Cabrera said Power Transformer No. 6 at Santolan and Transformer No. 5 at Anonas were also found to have technical issues.

Passengers were allowed to enter Araneta-Cubao Station at around 6:45 a.m., as limited operations began on the Recto-Cubao segment.

Meanwhile, service between Cubao and Antipolo remained suspended while repairs are underway.
