<p>MANILA — The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has fined flight booking site AirAsia Move P6 million for its allegedly misleading fare, the Department of Transportation confirmed Friday. </p><p>Earlier this month, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the takedown of AirAsia Move over what he said were the &quot;unreasonably high&quot; prices of one-way flights to Leyte booked through the platform.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/6/2/transport-chief-wants-airasia-move-taken-down-over-very-high-fares-to-leyte-1449" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Transport chief wants AirAsia Move taken down over &#x27;very high&#x27; fares to Leyte</a></div><p>In a copy of the resolution obtained by ABS-CBN News, the CAB said Move claimed that the fare irregularities were technical glitches coming from third-party suppliers and that no bookings were finalized at the flagged fares. There were also no available seats on the flights for Move to sell, the company added.</p><p>Move said it was not aware of CAB&#x27;s approved fare structures.</p><p>The CAB stressed, however, that displaying fares exceeding the regulatory ceiling--even though they are unavailable for booking or will eventually result in transaction reversals--misleads consumers into believing that such fares are legitimate.</p><p>The board noted that the Air Passenger Bill of Rights orders air carriers and their agents to provide full, fare, and clear disclosure of all the terms and conditions of the contract of carriage, including fare details.</p><p>&quot;This conduct undermines consumer trust and engenders uncertainty, delays, and potential financial, and emotional distress,&quot; the CAB said.</p><p>Move&#x27;s reliance on third-party suppliers also does not absolve it of responsibility as it remains obliged to ensure that the fares it displays comply with CAB regulations, the agency said.</p><p>CAB noted that Move should know all laws and regulations regarding its operations as an agency licensed to conduct business in the Philippines.</p><p>&quot;The legal maxim <em>ignorantia legis non excusat</em>--ignorance pf the law excuses no one--applies with full force,&quot; CAB said.</p><div><iframe width="1250" height="703" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7DTJ0lCZIyU" title="AirAsia Move denies airfare manipulation claims | ANC" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>The Department of Transportation (DOTr), for its part, praised the CAB for swiftly penalizing AirAsia Move.</p><p>“The ₱6 million penalty imposed on AirAsia MOVE sends a clear message: the government will not tolerate any form of abuse to Filipino passengers,” DOTr said.</p>
