<p>MANILA — The MRT-7 segment from Trinoma to Sacred Heart station in Quezon City will be operational by 2027 or even earlier, according to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon.</p><p>Dizon said this before the Commission on Appointments (CA) Committee on Transportation, which considered his ad interim appointment on Tuesday.</p><p>&quot;Ang commitment po ng San Miguel Corporation, ni Mr. Ramon Ang po mismo, nung nag-usap po kami several weeks ago, ay ang MRT-7 mula Trinoma hanggang Sacred Heart station sa Quezon City bago po pumasok ng Bulacan, ay operational na po para sa ating mga commuters by 2027 din po,&quot; Dizon said.</p><p>&quot;Baka nga po mas mapaaga pa dahil ang pinipilit po natin is by the end of 2026 ay tapos na po yun,&quot; he added.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/5/20/dotr-eyes-new-builder-for-common-station-by-q3-0741">DOTr eyes new builder for common station by Q3</a></div><p>Dizon estimates the full line to be fully operational by 2029. He also expects the Common Station to be completed by 2027.</p><p>&quot;Kasabay po sana ng opening ng MRT-7 tapos na rin po ang Common Station,&quot; Dizon said.</p><p>&quot;Parang 15 years na po itong mga proyektong to between Common Station, MRT-7 at yung connection po ng LRT-1 at MRT-3. Mahigit isang dekada na po ito, halos 15 years na. At ano po tingin ko po eh within the term of the President lahat po ng proyektong ito ay matatapos at operational na rin po,&quot; he added.</p><p>The opening of the MRT-7 has already been pushed back several times. Last year, the DOTr said it would be operational by the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/6/4/mrt-7-to-start-partial-operations-by-end-of-2025-1351" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">last quarter of 2025</a>. But earlier this year San Miguel Corp said the railway would be <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/4/22/mrt-7-trains-to-be-tested-and-running-this-year-full-ops-eyed-in-2026-smc-chief-1723" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">operational by 2026</a>.</p><div><strong>MASS TRANSPORT SYSTEM</strong> </div><p>Dizon said he believes an efficient mass transport system is the solution to traffic, not constructing more roads.</p><p>&quot;Kailangan po nating ayusin po talaga ang ating road mass transport infrastructure. Ako po ay hindi naniniwala na ang solusyon sa traffic ay magtayo, magpatayo ng bagong kalye. Di po ako naniniwala doon,&quot; Dizon said.</p><p>&quot;Ako po ay naniniwala na ang pagtatayo ng bagong kalye eh magdadagdag lang sa mas madaming sasakyan at maraming traffic.
