DITO eyes to be in the green by 2028 as subscribers hit 14 million

MANILA — DITO Telecommunity is looking to be profitable by 2028 as it continues to widen its subscriber base, the head of the telco&#x27;s parent firm said on Monday.DITO CME President and Chief Operating Officer Donald Lim told ABS-CBN News that the telco has been &#x27;hitting its milestones.&#x27; DITO CME is the holding firm of the country&#x27;s third biggest telco.Lim said despite ongoing geopolitical challenges and economic headwinds, the company is optimistic about its prospects in the second half of the year.&quot;Starting from day one, we&#x27;ve been hitting our commitments in terms of penetration, in terms of the towers built. At the same time, we&#x27;ve also gotten to where we are right now, more than 14 million subs and regular subscribers. So, we&#x27;re very happy,&quot; Lim told ABS-CBN News on the sidelines of the company&#x27;s &#x27;The 100 Presidents Golf Cup&#x27; in Dasmarinas, Cavite.Last year, DITO Telco CEO Eric Alberto earlier said he was optimistic that the telco can <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/10/8/dito-hits-13-million-subscribers-eyes-profitability-soon-2253" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">break even by the end of 2025</a> and achieve profitability &quot;soon.&quot; Lim said they expect to be in the green within 3 years. &quot;And our guidance is that by 2028, we&#x27;ll be fully positive by that time--2028, we push back by a few years; 2028 is the promise to the public,&quot; Lim said.DITO Telco passed it fifth and final technical audit last year. Earlier this year, industry tracker Opensignal said DITO had the fastest mobile network in the Philippines.Meanwhile, Lim was mum on the issue of the alleged foreign employees in DITO telco.&quot;I cannot comment. The lawyers are handling it,&quot; Lim said.Authorities have alleged that the telco has breached Philippine immigration laws by employing foreigners. DITO however has maintained it has no employee-employer relationship with the foreigners nabbed by immigration authorities. The telco said the foreigners were employees of its partners.
