MANILA -- Members of the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) who live in areas declared under a state of calamity due to typhoon and southwest monsoon can avail of calamity loans. For Pag-IBIG members, application is now open for the agency&#x27;s calamity loan, equivalent to 90 percent of members&#x27; savings.For example, if a member has an accumulated savings of P40,000, the loanable amount is P36,000.The loan has an interest of 5.95 percent, way lower than the interest rates of other private loan companies.Also, Pag-IBIG has announced that members who have availed of housing loan can apply for insurance claim if their houses were damaged by the typhoon or habagat.SSS, on the other hand, is going to announce soon its calamity loan for members whose area had been declared under a state of calamity.The calamity loan will range from P5,000 to P20,000, depending on the monthly salary credit of the member.The loan is going to be renewable after 6 months.The fund is ready to disburse up to P20 billion if the need arises, especially if more calamities strike the Philippines until the end of 2025. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/7/23/sss-to-reduce-calamity-loan-interest-rates-1439" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">SSS to reduce calamity loan interest rates</a></div>The calamity loan is only for active members, while pensioners can still avail of the pension loan anytime, regardless of whether or not there is a calamity.GSIS, meanwhile, is offering an emergency loan of P20,000 for government worker members and pensioners.  If the member has an existing loan, he or she can avail of up to P40,000 calamity loan in order to pay the remaining balance and still get a net loan of P20,000.With a P20,000 emergency loan payable in 3 years, the monthly amortization is just around P655 for 36 months.Members can now apply through the GSIS mobile touch app or thru its business centers during office hours.The agency said it can cover up to P7 billion for emergency loans, if needed.
