MANILA — Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. is confident of hitting the P3.2 trillion tax collection target for the year. That&#x27;s amid the many projects announced by President Marcos during his State of the Nation Address.Following the SONA, Lumagui said they can collect the needed taxes to fund projects mentioned by the president. This year’s target  is higher than last year’s P2.8 trillion collected tax. &quot;Ang daming projects at ang dami niyang gustong ma accomplish para sa ating mga kababayan, sisiguraduhin sa parte ng BIR na matutulungan natin ang mahal na pangulo na magawa ito,&quot; said Lumagui.The BIR chief added there is no need to add new tax measures saying existing policies are enough. The agency will just need to strictly implement the measures. &quot;Mas paiigtingin natin ang enforcement natin against those tax evaders, illicit traders,&quot; he said.He also said the recent Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act which standardizes the tax rate on interest income can also help. However he said this will be minimal as one of the main reasons of the law is to empowers ordinary Filipinos to save and invest in the capital market.
