<p>MANILA — Transport chief Vince Dizon said Thursday the government will soon begin the rehabilitation of the EDSA busway as he conducted an inspection of the facility along with Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.</p><p>Dizon said this project is composed of 2 phases. Under phase 1, four existing busway stations will be rehabilitated, namely: Monumento, Bagong Bagong Barrio, North Avenue and Guadalupe stations. </p><p>DOTr said part of Phase 2 will be the construction of 2 new busway stations in Cubao and PITX.</p><p>The rehab, according to the DOTr, is expected to be completed within 1 year and 9 months.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/8/1/edsa-rehab-could-be-delayed-to-2027-dpwh-1248">EDSA rehab could be delayed to 2027: DPWH</a></div><p>For Phase 1, Dizon said the government has allocated about P212 million, with another P200 million for Phase 2.</p><p>“All of this will be finished next year, so we&#x27;re here to start the construction already,” Dizon told reporters.</p><p>According to Dizon, the contract for the 2 new busway stations will be awarded by October. Pangandaman explained that the DOTr budget was slashed by P100 billion this year, or more than half its annual budget, but the agency was able to allot budget for EDSA busway rehab by using its continuing appropriations.</p><p>”Ang nagagamit natin ngayon, with proper planning…nagamit po natin yung continuing appropriations niya which is about more than 500 million kaya nasimulan natin iyong proyekyong ‘to,” Pangandaman said.</p><p>“Kakaiba itong budget ng DOTr, karamihan or bulk of their budget are really foreign-assisted projects,” Pangandaman added.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/7/31/metro-subway-north-south-railway-listed-by-depdev-as-at-risk-2057">Metro Manila Subway, North-South Commuter Railway listed by DEPDev as &#x27;at-risk&#x27;</a></div><p>Dizon said the DOTr is trying to be more commuter-centric from planning to the implementation of its projects.</p><p>“Kailangang maging commuter centric tayo. Kailangan magplano tayo ng mabuti at ‘pag nagpaplano tayo, ang priority natin yung mga commuter, for the longest time, lagi nakatutok lang tayo sa saskyan, its about time na commuters naman ang ating iniisip,” said Dizon.</p><p>Also part of the EDSA busway rehabilitation, according to Dizon, is the construction of the replacement of the controversial Mt. Kamuning footbridge in Quezon City.</p><p>Also on Thursday, DBM, DOTr and Quezon City LGU officials inspected the elevated bicycle lanes and their walkway along Elliptical Road as part of their active public infrastructure projects.</p><div> <a href="http://Six-month EDSA rebuild doable with modern technology: DOTr">Six-month EDSA rebuild doable with modern technology: DOTr</a></div>
