Radio Television Malacañang/RTVM Facebook/Screengrab</span></span></span></div><p>NEW DELHI, India — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. wants unimpeded development of the Sangley Airport in Cavite, according to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, following their meeting with officials of the Indian firm tapped as partner in the project.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/8/6/marcos-eyes-trade-pact-with-india-touts-ph-investment-environment-1859">Marcos eyes trade pact with India; touts PH investment environment</a></div><p>Marcos on Wednesday met with top executives of the GMR Group at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi on the third day of his state visit in the South Asian country.</p><p>The group is an Indian multinational conglomerate focused on infrastructure development with diverse interests in airports, energy, and transportation, among others. The company also operates through a public-private partnership model and has a global presence.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/10/21/competition-commission-approves-joint-venture-to-develop-sangley-point-airport-906">Competition Commission approves joint venture to develop Sangley Point airport</a></div><p>“The GMR Group, a strategic partner of the Sangley Aerocity Project, is involved in developing an international airport and surrounding aerotropolis at Sangley Point in Cavite,” the Presidential Communications Office said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;POSITIVE STEP&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Remulla, who’s also a former governor of Cavite, called the meeting “another positive step” for the airport.</p><p>“Para makumpleto po &#x27;yan, within two and a half years, madadagdagan tayo ng isa pang runway. Twenty million more passengers within two years,” he said in an interview after the meeting.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/8/6/marcos-says-to-slowly-bring-down-philippines-p17-27-trillion-debt-2157">Marcos says to &#x27;slowly&#x27; bring down Philippines&#x27; P17.27-trillion debt</a></div><p>“Luluwag ang NAIA, gaganda, giginhawa ang biyahe ng lahat ng ating Pilipino at dadami ang mga dayuhan na pupunta rito bilang turista,” he added.</p><p>He also disclosed that the President ordered a “red carpet treatment” for the operator, which was also involved in the development of Clark International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport.</p><p>“Ang direktiba niya [Marcos Jr.] ay red carpet treatment para sa GMR.
