MANILA — The Department of Transportation said the builders of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) can finally begin drilling under the Corinthian Gardens in Quezon City in January next year.The DOTr announced on Tuesday that as of Sept. 30, thirty two compensation offers totaling P820.6 million have been sent to affected property owners in the high end exclusive subdivision. &quot;Of these, 20 owners have accepted offers amounting to P461.1 million, while negotiations with the remaining property owners are ongoing,&quot; the DOTr said. Within Corinthian Gardens, the MMSP alignment covers 500 meters and affects 33 properties, the DOTr said.Right-of-way issues have been cited as the main cause of delays for the flagship subway project, which is expected to benefit millions of commuters in the nation&#x27;s capital.Last week, Malacañang announced that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the Accelerated and Reformed Right-of-Way (ARROW) Act into law, paving the way for the government to acquire land faster for infrastructure projects.&quot;To date, the right-of-way acquisition status for the MMSP is at 75 percent, with full completion targeted by March 2026,&quot; the DOTr said.Marcos earlier directed the DOTr to accelerate its flagship infrastructure projects to deliver faster, more convenient public transportation options for commuters at the soonest possible time.The Metro Manila Subway is a 33-kilometer line, which will run between Valenzuela, Quezon City, Pasig, Taguig, Parañaque and Pasay, with 17 stations between the East Valenzuela and Bicutan stations. It will connect directly with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.Marcos has said that he hopes to inaugurate the Valenzuela-Ortigas stations of the subway before his term ends in 2028.
