CEBU CITY, Cebu – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Friday formally rolled out its ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) 2026-2030, which according to the Philippines, seeks to focus on enhancing route connectivity among member-states and promote gastronomy.In a joint media statement, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said tourism ministers noted the key achievements under the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025, which included the implementation of a recognition arrangement on tourism professionals and stronger regional tourism marketing.Joint promotions under this framework, she said, positioned ASEAN as a &quot;single, high quality destination.&quot;This was why during the ASEAN Tourism Minsiters Meeting held this Friday, the tourism chief said foreign ministers wanted to build on the previous efforts to operationalize the fresh 5-year plan, “with a strong focus on promoting Southeast Asia as a single, seamless, and high-quality tourism destination.”For its part, the Department of Tourism said this new framework lists Southeast Asia’s priorities and vision for an inclusive and sustainable tourism industry –  resilient tourism, empowerment of the tourism workforce, accessible and seamless travel, digital tourism, product and market diversification, and sustainable tourism.“The Meeting underscored the importance of deepening collaboration with the private sector, global online platforms, and subregional mechanisms to strengthen brand visibility and amplify ASEAN&#x27;s regional identity through co-branded and co-funded campaigns,” based on a joint statement delivered by Frasco here in Cebu City.“The Meeting also highlighted the growing potential of cruise tourism as an important market segment, and encouraged continued cooperation to enhance port connectivity, streamline travel facilitation, improve service and safety standards, strengthen sustainability,” Frasco added.In 2025, ASEAN recorded around 144 million international visitors, which Frasco attributed to efforts on enhanced connectivity, diversified tourism offerings, and stronger marketing efforts.
