MANILA — Career development platform Jobstreet by SEEK said job applicants this year need to rethink their strategy if they want to land their dream job in 2026.Jobstreet said it saw a 179 percent year-on-year increase in applications per post, which means that a single role now receives significantly more applications than before. &quot;Hiring today values skills alignment and intention,&quot; said Dannah Majarocon, Jobstreet by SEEK Managing Director for the Philippines.The agency identified several &quot;application mistakes&quot; that can lead to job applicants getting ghosted in the 2026 market:<div>One resume for all?</div>Don&#x27;t use a single, generic resume for multiple roles. Jobstreet said this has become a primary cause of failure. Recruiters now prioritize tailored applications that mirror specific technical keywords found in job descriptions, Jobstreet said. &quot;By customizing your resume to reflect the relevant skills and experiences required for the job, chances are the hirers will perceive that you understand the role and care about the position, which advances you past the screening stage,&quot; Jobstreet said.<div>Don&#x27;t skip the job details</div>Applicants should not skim job posts and miss requirements for specific portfolios or submission formats.&quot;To apply more effectively, job seekers are advised to carefully read the entire job posting, including the preferred skills, required portfolio or attachments, specific technical and soft skills, years of experience, and even the format or method of submission,&quot; the jobs platform said.Firms are increasingly using these as a primary filter to gauge candidate attention to detail, Jobstreet said. <div>Discuss your pay</div>While candidates often avoid discussing compensation early on, Jobstreet said that ignoring salary transparency leads to unmet expectations or dissatisfaction later in the hiring process. &quot;By understanding pay expectations, job seekers can focus more on the opportunities that align with their career goals and make smarter decisions that lead to more suitable roles,&quot; Jobstreet said.The platform said that &quot;applying smarter matters more than ever.&quot;
