MANILA -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is working with the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) to use satellites to improve climate risk assessment.Under the memorandum of agreement, the BSP will use PhilSA&#x27;s satellite imagery and other datasets to identify areas vulnerable to climate-related hazards and evaluate their impact on communities and the economy.The BSP said this will inform monetary policy, financial supervision, and sustainability initiatives.PhilSA Director General Dr. Gay Jane Perez noted that space science and banking may appear to operate in different domains, yet both are ultimately concerned with stability.For her part, BSP Assistant Governor Pia Bernadette Tayag said the partnership improves preparedness across the economy and the financial sector&quot;The (memorandum of agreement) reflects how we view resilience-building in the financial system: It requires good governance, strong coordination, and better data,&quot; she said.
