GCash users can now request birth, marriage certificates through the app

MANILA (UPDATE) – GCash users will now be able to request official documents like birth and marriage certificates from the Philippine Statistics Authority through the app.The PSA has partnered with the Ayala-led fintech giant to integrate civil registry services directly into its mobile platform, officials said Wednesday, marking a significant push to digitize essential public services.The partnership, which includes service provider Pilipinas Teleserv, introduces the PSAHelpline Mini App within the GCash ecosystem. The integration allows Filipinos to request birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as CENOMAR and CENODEATH documents, directly through their smartphones.The service can be accessed through GCash&#x27;s GLife section. <div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1771994942130gcash psa.png" style="width:633px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>The move makes GCash the first e-wallet in the country to host the PSAHelpline service and the first to offer PDF civil registry certificates within its interface.“The PSA Helpline Mini App within the GCash app simplifies how Filipinos request civil registry documents by integrating secure requests and payments into a trusted digital platform. This partnership reflects our vision of a citizen-centered and digitally enabled government that delivers faster, more convenient public service to every Filipino wherever they may be,” said PSA National Statistician, Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa.“By making essential civil registry documents easier to access, we are helping more Filipinos participate in the digital economy and access the opportunities they deserve,” said Cleo Celeste Santos, VP and Head of Public Sector at GCash.The digital shift aims to reduce barriers for citizens in remote areas, providing a streamlined process from request to payment and delivery.<div>PSA Helpline e-certificate</div>The PSA said people can also opt to get these documents from the PSA&#x27;s E-Certificate Service, which allows Filipinos to get a digital copy of civil registry documents like birth and marriage certificates. To apply for an E-Certificate, the public can go to PSAHelpline.ph and click the &#x27;Order Now&#x27; button. They need to fill out the application form, input other information, pay using various payment channels, and complete the identity verification process.Mapa said the public can apply for a certificate online and may get a soft copy within the day. The digital copy can then be passed by individuals to companies, schools, government agencies, and other institutions. Once completed, the digital copy of the certificate will be sent to the applicant&#x27;s email address.&quot;Issued certificates are authentic and carry the full legal weight of a traditionally issued document,&quot; Mapa said highlighting the legal importance of digital copies.Pilipinas Teleserv Managing Director Jun Yupitun added that the digital copy is secured and would be impossible to edit. Institutions and individuals can also verify the authenticity of the digital copies with the PSA.&quot;100 percent po ang guarantee natin that the digital product in PDF form is tamper-proof. We signed a private key to it,&quot; Yupitun added.Birth, death, and marriage certificates cost P290 each. While the Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) and the Certificate of No Death (CENODEATH) cost P345 each.Mapa said 18 million people got their certificates last year and more are expected this year due to the new service. He also clarified that the agency will still continue with the door-to-door delivery service, and walk-in service for those who prefer a physical copy of the document.He added that they will also engage with more companies, schools, financial institutions, and others so that they will accept the digital copy of the documents.
