MANILA -- Shopee is now using artificial intelligence to improve sales in the Philippines.At the Shopee Brands Summit 2026, head of commercial Jack Ng said AI will &quot;fundamentally transform&quot; how users shop online. Ng showed how Shopee will soon have a virtual fitting room that allows users to visualize how clothes will fit them.Beyond this, however, Shopee will also allow customers to interact with a personalized AI shopping assistant that can understand their intent and help recommend the right products.&quot;Whether shoppers are looking for electronics, home essentials, or beauty products, it helps make the search more intuitive and relevant,&quot; Ng said.The executive said the app&#x27;s new AI tools also allow customers to search for products using text, images, or voice commands.&quot;If a user searches for something specific like &#x27;flight-safe power banks,&#x27; they can quickly see options that match those requirements, along with helpful summaries and personalized recommendations,&quot; Ng said.&quot;The overall goal is simple: help shoppers find what they need faster,&quot; Ng told ABS-CBN News in a separate statement.&quot;Online shopping is becoming more competitive and more choice-driven, and shoppers today expect faster, more relevant, and more seamless experiences. AI helps us strengthen that experience at scale,&quot; he explained.Ng also noted that Shopee sellers have been using AI to sell their products better.Aside from the chat AI assistant, which allows sellers to respond to customers even when they are away, there is also an AI product title and description generator, which helps sellers write product descriptions that make their products easier to find.There is also an AI image enhancer, which makes products appear more attractive and professional.&quot;Many sellers appreciate that it simplifies content creation, improves discoverability, and provides helpful suggestions that enhance listing clarity,&quot; Ng said.Ng said he expects AI to further help Shopee&#x27;s sales increase in 2026.The executive said Shopee Mall achieved over 60 percent growth year-on-year.In 2025, online shopping platform Lazada said it achieved <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/9/8/lazada-says-achieves-positive-ebitda-with-ai-help-1623" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">positive EBITDA</a> (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization) thanks to its continuous investment in artificial intelligence.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/8/27/video-commerce-now-20-pct-of-all-e-commerce-in-southeast-asia-youtube-2007" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Video commerce now makes up 20 pct of all e-commerce in Southeast Asia: YouTube</a></div>
