Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA -- The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Sunday released an updated Fare Guide for provincial public utility buses, reflecting newly approved provisional fare increases that took effect on March 14, 2026.The updated guide follows an order issued on March 13 granting fare adjustments for various classifications of provincial public utility buses (PUBs).&quot;The approved adjustments have already been reflected and incorporated in the newly issued Fare Guide to ensure uniform implementation across all provincial bus operators and routes,&quot; the agency said in its statement.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/3/13/dotr-decisions-on-fare-hike-petitions-might-be-out-next-week-1119" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">READ: Decisions on fare hike petitions might be out next week -- DOTr</a></div>Under the updated Fare Guide, air-conditioned, super deluxe, and deluxe provincial buses will implement a provisional fare increase of P0.35 per kilometer.Luxury buses will apply a higher adjustment of P0.45 per kilometer, while ordinary provincial buses will increase their base fare by P1.00 and add P0.30 per succeeding kilometer.According to the LTFRB, the adjustments were approved through a provisional order issued on March 13 and have already been reflected in the agency&#x27;s official fare guide for provincial buses.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/3/11/transport-groups-say-fuel-subsidy-not-enough-amid-huge-oil-price-hikes-1557">READ: Transport groups say fuel subsidy &#x27;not enough&#x27; amid huge oil price hikes</a></div>&quot;The LTFRB advises all provincial bus operators to strictly follow the updated Fare Guide and ensure that the approved fares are properly posted inside their units for the guidance of the riding public,&quot; the agency said.&quot;Passengers are likewise encouraged to verify the correct fares based on the official Fare Guide and report any violations or overcharging incidents to the LTFRB through its official communication channels,&quot; they added.The LTFRB said it remains committed to balancing the interests of both commuters and transport operators amid changing economic conditions.The fare adjustment comes as global oil prices remain volatile amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.The conflict began in late February after the United States and Israel launched air strikes against Iran, reportedly killing Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran launched drone attacks targeting U.S. bases across Gulf countries and moved to block the Strait of Hormuz, a key global chokepoint where about one-fifth of the world&#x27;s oil supply passes.
