Izzy Lee, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Transport group PISTON has filed a petition with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) seeking a P10 increase in the minimum jeepney fare due to rising diesel prices. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/14/how-much-have-fuel-prices-risen-since-the-start-of-the-mideast-conflict-0959" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">How much have fuel prices risen since the start of the Mideast conflict</a></div>PISTON President Mody Floranda said diesel prices have reached as high as P170 per liter, affecting drivers’ earnings.&quot;Kaya isa to sa naging tungtungan ng ating pagpa-file at siyempre &#x27;yung mataas na mga piyesa na ginagamit ng mga public transport na kung saan hindi naman bumababa amg mga presyong ito,&quot; Floranda said.Floranda also urged the government to address the issue, calling not only on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTFRB but also on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to act.He added that recent rollbacks in petroleum prices are not enough to ease the burden on drivers.&quot;May pagbaba pero tandaan natin higit pa ring 100 pesos &#x27;yung magiging presyo ng diesel. Kung tayo ay nakaka 30 liters per day, tayo ay makaka 300 pesos pa din yung mawawalang kita ng ating mga driver,&quot; he added.Meanwhile, the group announced a protest scheduled on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at Petron Philcoa, joined by various sectors.The demonstration will call for the scrapping of oil deregulation policies and fuel taxes, with protests expected to continue until May 1.
