<p>MANILA — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said it has finalized 345 expropriation cases to speed up the acquisition of right-of-way for rail and subway projects in the Philippines.</p><p>In a Facebook post, the DOTr said this will speed up land acquisition along the Clark–Malolos corridor for the North-South Commuter Railway Project and critical sites for the Metro Manila Subway Project.</p><p>Acquiring right-of-way has been one of the major challenges in building key railway projects in the Philippines.</p><p>In February, the DOTr said it had acquired 1,143 out of 2,034 lots for the north section of the North-South Commuter Railway. The subway is expected to be operational by 2032.</p>
