Izzy Lee, ABS-CBN News, file</div>MANILA — The High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has affirmed megachurch Jesus Is Lord Church Limited’s ownership of a property in Kowloon that was the subject of a property dispute, JIL Church said.In a press release, JIL Church said Deputy High Court Judge Jonathan Wong found that the church had full legal and beneficial ownership of the property, which it had purchased through JIL Investments Limited after more than a decade of leasing it.Wong also ordered the transfer of the title to JIL Church from the previous owner, who also has to refund a HK$332,591.94 (around P2.57 million) to the church and to pay its legal fees.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/19/in-photos-11-000-pastors-church-workers-join-jesus-is-lord-gathering-1410">IN PHOTOS: 11,000 pastors, church workers join Jesus Is Lord gathering </a></div>The court also ordered the previous owner to settle all mortgage-related liabilities of the property, which had been secretly mortgaged before JIL Church’s lease contract expired.Wong is a deputy judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court. An upper Court of Appeal within the High Court can review judgments of lower courts.JIL Church was founded in 1978 by Bro. Eddie Villanueva, CIBAC Party-List representative at the House and father of Sen. Joel Villanueva.
