MANILA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) officially launched the P4-billion MSME Business Fund on Monday, April 6, offering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) a new lifeline to strengthen operations and expand amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque emphasized the urgency of providing capital to businesses during challenging times through the Small Business Corporation (SB Corp).The fund allows eligible MSMEs to borrow between P30,000 and P20 million, with loans payable over up to five years. For loans of up to P5 million, no collateral is required, and borrowers can enjoy a one-year grace period on both principal and interest payments.“Ang loan po na ito ay no collateral up to P5 million and one year po no payment of principal and interest. So this one year po is enough time for the businesses to actually move forward,” Roque said.“I encourage all the MSMEs out there to take advantage of this opportunity that the DTI through SB Corporation and the Philippine Government can give to you,” she added.The program is designed to help businesses address supply chain disruptions, rising logistics costs, and cash flow constraints.“Dahil po sa ongoing Middle East crisis, ang pondong ito ay binuo upang masiguro ang tuluy-tuloy na operations, makabili rin tayo ng raw materials, buy equipment, at higit sa lahat makapag-expand din po ng negosyo or to prepare for the expansion of any business,” Roque said.Roque highlighted the accessibility of the loan application process. Applicants may apply online through sbcorp.gov.ph or through any of the 18 regional DTI offices and 1,344 Negosyo Centers nationwide.Required documents include a government-issued ID, Mayor’s Business Permit, proof of bank account, photographs of the business, and corporate documents for corporations.“The processing, basta complete iyong documents, is 7 to 10 days. Online processing na po ito. But if they want to know more about this, it&#x27;s best for them to go to the different regional offices nationwide,” Roque explained.Roque also noted the potential demand for the program, citing the successful uptake of other DTI loan schemes.“Definitely, we are expecting a high demand, especially during times such as this. Just like the Women&#x27;s Enterprise Fund, mabilis rin, maraming naka-avail din,” she said.The MSME Business Fund complements other targeted loan programs recently launched by DTI, including the P2-billion OFW Negosyo Fund for overseas Filipino workers and the P2-billion Women Enterprise Fund for women-led businesses.Each fund offers similar terms, with loans up to P5 million requiring no collateral and a one-year no-payment grace period.
