<p>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday announced an increase in minimum wages in Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions.</p><p>In a speech on Labor Day, Marcos said the minimum wages in Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) and Region 13 (Caraga Region) have been increased to P500 and P475, respectively.</p><p>“Sa pamamagitan ng regional tripartite wages and productivity boards, naipasa ang 89 na <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/23/dole-approves-p800-pay-hike-for-kasambahay-in-ncr-1326">wage order</a> mula Hunyo 2023 hanggang Abril 2026. Kabilang dito ang wage hikes na epektibo ngayong araw tulad ng sa Region X at Region 13,” he said.</p><p>This is the second tranche of the wage increase that was implemented in January 2026.</p><p>Marcos also vowed that minimum wages in regions are continuously under review.</p><p>“Patuloy din ang pagsusuri ng minimum wage sa mga rehiyon,” the chief executive said, noting that 89 wage orders were issued from June 2023 to April of this year.</p><p>In Region 10, wages in the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador and Ozamiz, and the municipalities of Tagoloan, Villanueva, Jasaan, Opol, Maramag, Quezon, Manolo Fortich, and Lugait increased from P486 to P500 for non-agriculture and agriculture workers, effective May 1.</p><p>Those under Wage Category II, or retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers, in all other areas not mentioned in Category I, wages are not up to P485 from P471.</p><p>In Caraga Region, the minimum wage is now at P475 from P455, effective May 1.</p><p>Meanwhile, the labor department added that the second tranche of wage hikes for Eastern Visayas (Region 8) and Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9) will take effect on June 1 amounting to ₱ 18 and ₱25 respectively.</p><p>Bicol Region (Region V) and Western Visayas (Region XI) are also set to receive the second tranche of their wage adjustments later this year, it added.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MORE STORIES:</strong></div><div><strong><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/1/senators-call-for-wage-hike-expanded-aid-programs-for-workers-1244">Senators call for wage hike, expanded aid programs for workers</a></strong></div><div><strong><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/5/1/marcos-says-nearly-p2-t-worth-of-investments-approved-in-2025-to-generate-150k-jobs-1257">Marcos says nearly P2-trillion investments to generate 150,000 jobs</a></strong></div><div><strong><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/28/labor-groups-ask-gov-t-for-wage-hike-amid-middle-east-conflict-1732">Labor groups ask gov’t for wage increase, show leadership amid Middle East conflict</a></strong></div>
