<p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Labor Day that almost P2 trillion in investments approved last year were expected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/2/10/fdi-net-inflows-reach-897-million-in-november-1448" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">FDI net inflows reach $897 million in November</a></div><p>“Noong nakaraang taon, halos P2 trilyon ng investment ang ating naaprubahan. Lilikha ito ng halos 150,000 trabaho,” Marcos said at the 124th Labor Day celebration at a mall in General Santos City.</p><p>Some 94 job fair sites are offering 150,000 job vacancies across the country until the end of May, he said. </p><p>He also noted that 6,600 job fairs were conducted from June 2022 to February 2026, where over 1.5 million job seekers were accommodated. He said 250,000 of them were hired on the spot.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/1/protesters-demand-wage-hike-cheaper-commodities-on-labor-day-0917" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Massive Labor Day protest demands wage hike, relief from soaring prices</a></div><p>“Sa pamamagitan ng job fair na ito, nais naming ipatuloy na bumuti ang bilang at kalidad ng trabaho na available sa ating mga kababayan,” Marcos said, noting that the number of jobs increased to 50 million back in February.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=305&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1520462603028428%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="305" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </span>Marcos added that minimum wages across the country were under continuous review.</div><p>“Sa pamamagitan ng regional tripartite wages and productivity boards, naipasa ang 89 na <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/23/dole-approves-p800-pay-hike-for-kasambahay-in-ncr-1326" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">wage order</a> mula Hunyo 2023 hanggang Abril 2026. Kabilang dito ang wage hikes na epektibo ngayong araw tulad ng sa Region X at Region 13,” he said.</p><p>He added that minimum wages in Northern Mindanao and Caraga Administrative Region had been increased to P500 and P475, respectively.</p><p>In the same speech, the chief executive reiterated the government’s efforts to address the effects of the Middle East crisis, including the 54-day <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/27/philippines-boosts-fuel-buffer-with-178-million-liters-of-diesel-1526">fuel supply</a>, <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/30/dbm-gov-t-has-enough-funds-for-aid-during-fuel-crisis-1839">fuel subsidy</a> for the transport sector, loan programs, and other benefits.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/30/diesel-gasoline-prices-may-rise-again-next-week-1422">Diesel, gasoline prices may rise again next week</a></div><p>Marcos also visited Bgy.
