The NGCP also said that three power plants are “running on derated capacities” and other five are “on forced outage”. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has lifted the yellow alerts earlier declared over the Luzon and Visayas power grids, with both systems now operating under normal conditions.</p><p>According to NGCP, the yellow alert in the Visayas grid was lifted at 9:50 p.m. on May 16 after supply conditions improved. At the time, available capacity reached 2,650 megawatts (MW) while demand stood at 2,353 MW.</p><p>A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirements, indicating a tight but manageable power supply.</p><p>Meanwhile, the yellow alert in the Luzon grid was lifted earlier at 11:38 p.m. on May 15. NGCP reported that available capacity reached 13,047 MW, exceeding the system demand of 12,170 MW.</p><p>NGCP said Luzon’s available capacity increased after several power plants declared full capacity operations.</p><div><a href="http://Brownouts roll across Luzon, Visayas">Brownouts roll across Luzon, Visayas</a></div><p>Earlier data released by NGCP on May 16 also showed improved conditions across the grids.
