Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Monday unveiled the &quot;Tatak Pinoy&quot; seal during the Tatak Pinoy: Proudly Filipino Expo 2026 in Pasay City.The seal will be marked on products that are made in the Philippines by Filipino companies.Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the seal will signify a product is not only Philippine-made, but is also of good quality. She added that the seal will only be given to quality products that can be exported or used domestically.&quot;We want them now to have a seal. We want them to be branded na &#x27;Tatak Pinoy&#x27; ito… We need to now put our &#x27;Tatak Pinoy Proudly Filipino&#x27; seal for the products that are really making it globally,&quot; she said.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/12/2/tatak-pinoy-launched-gov-t-to-also-buy-local-1917">READ: Tatak Pinoy launched; gov&#x27;t to also buy local</a></div>The Tatak Pinoy program was launched to strengthen local industries and to make Philippine products more competitive. It is also the first ever national industrial policy institutionalized through law and it aims to strengthen competitiveness, help businesses improve their products, and make Filipino-made products expand globally.Roque said many Filipinos may not be aware that some global products were made in the Philippines or the parts were made in the country like cellphones, vehicles, computers and more. She said by incorporating the &#x27;Tatak Pinoy&#x27; seal, this will ensure that the world will know that many products were actually created by Filipinos and this can boost the manufacturing sector.The priority sectors where the Philippines is already contributing the global supply are in information technology, semiconductor, food and agro-processing, cement and steel, pharmaceuticals, automotive and electric vehicles, defense manufacturing, among others.One of the biggest Filipino brands, Jollibee, joined the expo and expressed support for the &#x27;Tatak Pinoy&#x27; initiative. Truly a testament of the Filipino spirit,&quot; said Miñana.One of the salient provisions of the Tatak Pinoy law is the mandate on domestic preference in government procurement allowing local suppliers to be awarded the contracts if their bids are within 25 percent of the lowest foreign offer.Roque added that the new seal is not just a marketing campaign, but to show that the Philippines plays an important role in the global value chain. This can also help boost the economy.Philippine exports grew to a historic record of $22.7 billion in the first quarter of the year or a 12.7 percent increase from the same period last year. Roque said the government has signed several free trade agreements (FTA) which helped expand the country&#x27;s exports.&quot;January nag increase din again 7.9 percent, then February we hit an all-time high of 8 percent, and March we hit again high of 20.4 percent which is the highest since 1991,&quot; she added.At least three FTAs will be concluded this year, Roque said. These are FTAs with the European Union, Canada, and Chile. Talks for India FTA are also underway.
