<p>MANILA -- The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has suspended the collection of the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) for the May and June 2026 electric bills.</p><p>The GEA-All is used to fund renewable energy projects like solar, wind, and hydro in the Philippines.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/30/what-charges-make-up-your-meralco-bill-1651" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">What charges make up your Meralco bill?</a></div><p>In a statement, the ERC said this will help ease the financial burden on Filipinos amid rising inflation and global economic pressures.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/5/5/inflation-quickens-to-7-2-percent-in-april-0906">Inflation quickens to 7.2 percent in April</a></div><p>The ERC noted that, as of May 5, the GEA-All fund maintains a healthy balance of approximately P466.49 million. </p><p>Based on the commission’s assessment, this is enough to cover the projected payment requirements of eligible renewable energy developers during the suspension period, including the expected participation of additional renewable energy facilities by June.</p><p>ERC Chairperson Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan said this move will help cushion consumers from spikes in electricity-related costs.</p><p>“While the ERC remains fully committed to supporting the country’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, we also recognize the immediate challenges being faced by Filipino households due to rising prices and global uncertainties,&quot; he said.</p><p>The ERC said it will meet again in June to review the status of the GEA-All fund and see if the suspension of the GEA-All can be extended.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/24/meralco-other-charges-on-electric-bills-mandated-by-government-1211" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Meralco: Other charges on electric bills mandated by government</a></div>
