MANILA -- More than 53,000 local and overseas job opportunities were opened to jobseekers on Independence Day through simultaneous job fairs held across Metro Manila by the government in partnership with SM malls and local government units.At SM City East Ortigas in Pasig, hundreds of applicants lined up in search of work, from fresh graduates and career shifters to workers looking for additional sources of income.Among them was 47-year-old Janet Mercado, who said the one-stop shop setup made reentering the labor market less overwhelming following the death of her husband.“Widow na ‘ko. Wala naman na akong aasahan, alangan naman umasa ako sa in-laws ko. Hindi po dapat kasi maapektuhan ang moralidad, kalusugan, at ang pag-aaral ng isang bata.
