MANILA -- Lufthansa Technik Philippines is making a &quot;multi-million dollar investment&quot; to expand its aircraft maintenance facility in Clark, according to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.The BCDA said the German aviation company will build a new 157,000-square-meter aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility at Clark International Airport.It can accommodate nine widebody aircraft and is expected to create 1,200 highly skilled jobs for Filipinos, such as engineers, aircraft technicians, aviation specialists, logistics providers, and suppliers. It will start operations in 2028.Lufthansa Technik Philippines chief executive officer Holger Beck said this investment shows its long-term commitment to the Philippines as a strategic hub for aviation maintenance services in the Asia-Pacific.&quot;Our sites in Manila and Clark will complement each other as two strong pillars of our growth and mark an exciting new chapter for Lufthansa Technik Philippines,&quot; he said.The BCDA--which is leading the development of the Clark growth area--said, for its part, that this will strengthen the country’s aviation services sector and attract complementary investments in aerospace, logistics, manufacturing, and related industries.This also boosts the country&#x27;s connectivity with key markets in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.The BCDA made the statement as President Ferdinand R.
