<p>MANILA -- Power distributor Meralco has responded to a customer&#x27;s complaint about her electric bill, which reached P94,000.</p><p>In a statement, Meralco said the increase in the customer Cacai Mitra&#x27;s power use is consistent with her seasonal consumption pattern. </p><p>&quot;Ms. Cacai’s account is classified as a high-load service and there was no unusual surge in her consumption, which is also reflected in the historical chart in her bill,&quot; Meralco said.</p><p>&quot;The actual consumption remains within the normal range of her previous bills, both when compared with the preceding months and with the same period last year,&quot; the power company said.</p><p>Meralco said it has explained Mitra&#x27;s billing to her, and offered to do a technical survey of her property. </p><p>In a now-viral Facebook post, Mitra said her bill reached P94,355.21.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/6/11/meralco-rates-to-rise-in-june-billing-after-yellow-red-alerts-in-may-1223" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Meralco rates to rise in June billing after Yellow, Red Alerts in May</a></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Hy9JLO6NHkw?autoplay=1&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
