MANILA — The Social Security System on Tuesday announced that its Pension Booster Program achieved a competitive 6.2 percent average return on investment (ROI) from January to May 2026 despite prevailing economic challenges.The Voluntary Provident Fund remains a highly resilient retirement savings tool for Filipino workers, the state-led pension fund said. While the return is slightly lower than the 6.83 percent recorded in 2025 due to recent interest rate adjustments by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, it still surpasses the year-to-date average of the 91-day treasury bill rate, which sits at roughly 4.77 percent, the SSS said.Finance Secretary and Social Security Commission ex-officio Chair Frederick Go attributed the steady yields to strategic fund deployment. “The continued strong performance of the SSS Pension Booster underscores our commitment to protecting the financial future of Filipino workers,&quot; Go said. To maximize member earnings, the SSS has waived its one percent management fee from 2025 until 2028, ensuring total investment gains are credited tax-free. SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph de Claro noted that members can now track this monthly compounding growth in real time via their online My.SSS accounts.“The strong performance of the Pension Booster demonstrates disciplined and professionally managed savings,” de Claro said, adding that early enrollment yields the highest potential.The program accepts contributions starting at P500 with no maximum limit, pooling resources into secure government securities, corporate bonds, equities, and fixed-income instruments.
