Proposed 2027 national budget ‘approved’ by Marcos Cabinet — Palace

MANILA — The Executive branch’s proposed national budget for 2027 has been ‘discussed and approved’ by the Cabinet, according to Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez.This was after the National Expenditure Program for next year was presented by the Department of Budget and Management before the Cabinet.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/7/2/-ph-middle-class-being-quietly-squeezed-by-high-inflation-interest-rates-1236">PH middle class becoming economy&#x27;s &#x27;quiet absorber&#x27; as high prices, elevated interest rates squeeze households: PIDS</a></div>However, the total amount of the proposed funding and other details were not disclosed. “On the total amount and other details, we do not want to pre-empt the President&#x27;s budget submission to Congress,” Gomez noted.As part of the budget process, the presentation of the proposed budget to the President and the Cabinet usually happens in July of the prior fiscal year by the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC), composed of the budget department, Department of Finance, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (formerly NEDA), and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/6/25/philippines-to-boost-infra-spending-amid-lower-growth-forecast-1926">Philippines to boost infra spending amid lower growth forecast </a> </div>The DBM will then validate the approved budgets and consolidate these into the Budget of Expenditures and Sources of Financing and other budget documents. The President, come August, will submit the proposed budget to Congress within 30 days from the opening of the regular session, where it will undergo deliberations. The DBM earlier said the DBCC has proposed a national budget of P7.2 trillion for 2027, which represents 21.7 percent of the country&#x27;s GDP and reflects a 6 percent increase over the 2026 spending program. According to the DBM, the Philippine government has raised its medium-term deficit targets amid higher inflation forecasts for the next two years.

However, the amount and other details about the budget have yet to be revealed.
