MANILA — The Visayas grid will still be on Yellow Alert on Friday, July 10.The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the Yellow Alert is in effect from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Available grid capacity is at 2,548W, but peak demand is expected to reach 2,334MW.The NGCP said eleven plants have been out since July, while 4 have been out since June. Seven plants have been out since May, while one has been out since March.The Yellow Alert was raised again days after the Department of Energy announced that all power grids in the country are back to normal. The Department of Energy (DOE) said it has already issued show-cause orders to various power plants that have bogged down unscheduled. DOE legal officer Gab Corpus said this does not mean that owners of these plants are already guilty of forced outage and recurring capacity derating, but only that they did not submit the required annual self-assessment forms on or before the deadline.
