Visayas power grid on Yellow Alert again on July 14

MANILA — The Visayas power grid has been placed on Yellow Alert yet again on July 14, Tuesday.The National Grid Corp of the Philippines said the alert will be in effect from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, meaning that rotational power outages may be expected in these areas during this period.  The NGCP said power supply remains insufficient to meet the contingency demands of the grid, with available capacity at 2,590 megawatts, while peak demand is seen rising to 2,394MW. Three major power plants remain offline, the NGCP said. Visayas has been on yellow and red alerts since early May. While the Department of Energy has promised that power supply would return to normal by July, the Visayas power grid has yet to experience a week without alerts this month.
