MANILA — Philippine Airlines has signed an agreement with Airbus for nine additional <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/12/20/first-in-southeast-asia-pal-s-airbus-a350-1000-arrives-in-philippines-1659">A350-1000 long-haul aircraft</a>, just a day after the flag carrier announced a deal with Boeing.The deal, formalized Tuesday via a Memorandum of Understanding at the Farnborough International Airshow, also includes purchase rights for five additional jets. Deliveries for this second batch are scheduled to take place between 2034 and 2036.The commitment builds on an earlier order placed in 2023. PAL currently operates two A350-1000s on ultra-long-haul routes connecting Manila directly to New York and Toronto, with seven remaining aircraft from the previous order slated for delivery through 2028.&quot;The A350-1000 will continue to define the future of our international operations for many years to come,&quot; said Lucio Tan III, President and Chief Operating Officer of PAL Holdings. He noted that as the sole operator of the variant in Southeast Asia, the airline has benefited from its extended range and fuel efficiency on competitive transpacific routes.Equipped with a three-class layout featuring business class suites with privacy doors, the composite-heavy widebody delivers significant fuel burn and emissions reductions compared to older-generation long-haul jets.Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry called the aircraft the &quot;perfect platform&quot; for the Philippine flag carrier to bolster its position in high-demand transpacific markets.On Monday, PAL also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing to acquire up to 20 widebody 787-10 Dreamliners.
