Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is expanding its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to include online businesses for the first time.Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian launched the expanded program in Valenzuela City with over 170 individuals who’d like to start an online business or expand their existing business into the digital world. Under the program, each individual, classified as poor or marginalized, was given P10,000 as initial capital.Before this, SLP only covered traditional businesses or those with physical shops.DSWD has now partnered with TikTok Shop to help the pilot batch learn more about online business, including live selling, online strategies, marketing, cybersecurity, among others. He also said the beneficiaries were taught financial literacy, how to open a bank account, how to do a business proposal, and more.“Tinuruan natin ang ating mga kababayan na maghanapbuhay para sa matagalang solusyon mula sa kahirapan,” Gatchalian said.TikTok Shop said they want to help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises grow their business with the help of online tools. This way, entrepreneurs can have the entire Philippines or even abroad as their market.“Tuturuan po natin sila paano sila maka benta nationwide … Mga buyers nadidiscover po nila produkto through affiliate marketing,” said Yves Gonzalez, TikTok Shop Head for Public Policy for the Philippines.Gatchalian said they prioritize those in the vulnerable and marginalized sector for this program. He clarified that the money given is not a loan, but a grant. DSWD will continue to monitor the progress of the business. “May monitoring yan.
