MANILA – Philippine lender Chinabank has partnered with fintech firm Paywatch to launch Earned Wage Access Plus (EWAP), a digital solution aimed at bridging the gap between fixed payroll schedules and daily expenses, the companies announced on Monday.The measure allows employees to instantly withdraw a portion of their already-earned salaries through a mobile application. The funds are credited directly to their Chinabank payroll accounts, bypassing the need for internal company advances.&quot;EWAP is part of our broader commitment to deliver solutions that are responsive to our clients’ evolving needs,&quot; said Domingo P. Dayro, Jr., Chinabank Cash Management Services &amp; Operations Group Head. &quot;It reflects how we are rethinking traditional banking services to better support both businesses and their employees.&quot;The service targets a structural mismatch in the Philippine payroll system that often pushes workers toward informal salary advances or high-interest debt to cover basic necessities like food, transport, and utilities. By automating the process, the platform removes the administrative burden from corporate human resource teams while functioning as a flexible fringe benefit.The rollout aligns with a global momentum toward embedded finance and real-time digital liquidity. Paywatch, which operates across multiple Asian markets, noted that liquidity solutions significantly boost workplace morale and corporate efficiency.“When employees have better control over their finances, it positively impacts their focus and overall performance.
