Canadian BPO firms NQX, TELUS expanding Philippine investments

MANILA – Canadian business process outsourcing (BPO) giants NQX and TELUS Corporation are expanding their operations in the Philippines, injecting millions of dollars into the economy and creating hundreds of rural jobs, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced.  DTI said the expansion plans were solidified during separate high-level meetings on July 3 between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., DTI Secretary Cristina Roque, Finance Secretary Frederick  Go, and senior executives from both firms during the President’s official visit to Canada.  NQX, operating through its legal entity Quantrics Enterprises Inc., is launching a P632 million countryside expansion. The initiative aims to create 725 direct-hire jobs outside Metro Manila, with potential site locations including Laoag and Dagupan in North Luzon, and Legazpi in South Luzon. The company, which already employs 5,661 workers in the country, plans to scale up its contact center outsourcing, customer experience consulting, and digital solutions, the agency said.&quot;The DTI stands ready to support investments that generate quality jobs, strengthen regional economies, and bring stable employment directly to the countryside, allowing Filipinos to thrive without leaving their home provinces,&quot; Roque said.  Meanwhile, TELUS Corporation is deepening its Philippine operations in artificial intelligence (AI)-related services, healthcare support, software engineering, and workforce development. The move builds on more than $175.6 million invested by the firm in the country since 2018. TELUS Digital Philippines is already one of the largest Canadian employers in the country, with over 24,000 workers across Metro Manila and Iloilo.  Finance Secretary Frederick Go emphasized that TELUS’ decision reflects the positive impact of the country&#x27;s CREATE MORE law in attracting export-oriented investments, DTI said. &quot;We are pleased that Canadian companies like TELUS continue to see the Philippines as a competitive investment destination,&quot; Go added.  The developments come as the Philippine IT-BPM sector shifts toward high-value, knowledge-intensive work. Industry data shows the sector generated $40 billion in revenues in 2025 and is projected to reach $42 billion in 2026, anchoring the country&#x27;s position as a premier global digital services hub.
